Whale Watch and Akaroa

Monday 4 February

Woke up to check out and go to our Whale watch tour, one of the highlights of the holiday, but the weather was not good. We checked in at the centre and were told all go but 5 minutes before we were due to go all trips were cancelled due to high winds, bollocks!!. This was our only chance to do this, they do refund all monies paid but this is not what we wanted, you can't control the weather as they say. Julia was already drugged up with her super pills for sea sickness and was very upset.

Set off to Christchurch where we are staying in Akaroa a volcanic peninsular to the southeast of Christchurch which was colonised by the French and still has a lot of that influence.

Staying in a beautiful old house with lovely views over the harbour run by a great couple, Carol & Bruce plus their West Highland Terrier, and met a couple of old ladies from England on their third return trip to the house. Looking forward to harbour cruise in the morning.
