Jet Boat Safari and The Huka Falls

Wednesday 30 January
Went off early to go on a jet boat safari up the Waikato river through the stunning Tutakao gorge which ends up at the Hidden Valley across from a thermal reserve called Orakei Korako which is a leading Geo-Thermal attraction. The jet boat up river was beautiful and very interesting as was the walk around the very hot and quite smelly thermal area. The sun was shining all day today and the temps were very high.
On the way back the driver of the jet boat puts it through its paces with many 360 degree spins and speeding very close to the river banks, all great fun.
We then went off to see the sluce gates of the dam open which then floods the gorge, they do this about 3 times a day, we watched from a lookout point downstream which was a bit of a walk but well worth it.This was followed by a gentle river cruise up to the base of the Huka falls, a very powerfall waterfall.
Another great dinner tonight, joined later on by a couple from Sydney, Ian & June helped with the wine tasting!!.
